Rodrigo Soares Fortunato holds a degree in Physiotherapy from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2004), a Master's in Biological Sciences (Physiology) (2005), and a Ph.D. in Sciences (2008) from the Carlos Chagas Filho Biophysics Institute at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He completed his postdoctoral research at the Gustave Roussy Cancer Institute (Paris), where he studied the hydrogen peroxide-generating system in the thyroid. He is currently an Associate Professor II at the Carlos Chagas Filho Biophysics Institute - UFRJ, focusing on studies related to endocrine-metabolic dysfunctions, redox homeostasis, and genomic instability. He is a permanent member of the Graduate Program in Biological Sciences (Physiology) (CAPES 7) and the Graduate Program in Medicine (Endocrinology) (CAPES 5), both at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He served as Deputy Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Biological Sciences (Physiology) (2018-2022). He is currently the Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Biological Sciences (Physiology), a Scientist of Our State at the Carlos Chagas Filho Foundation for Research Support of the State of Rio de Janeiro (FAPERJ), and a CNPQ Research Productivity Fellow - Level 1C.
